This is the best gingerbread cake I have ever eaten. It's very moist and is especially good when served piping hot!

Ingredients

1/2c butter
1/2c sugar
1 egg
3/4c dark molasses
1c sour milk (1c milk with 1T lemon or vinegar mixed in)
2 1/4c flour
1tsp baking soda
1/2tsp salt
1tsp ginger
1tsp cinnamon

The Preparation

• Combine the flour and spices in a bowl. Set aside.
• In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and mix until creamy.
• Blend the molasses and milk into the creamed mixture.
• Gradually add the flour and spice mixture to the creamed mixture.
• Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9inch round cake pan.
• Bake at 325 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
